Songwriters, who in our estimation, have written a song that has potential for success,  may enter into a short-term publishing agreement wherein Songfield Publishing  would agree to make efforts to place the song before major recording artists. 

The most common terms of a contract with Songfield Publishing include a provision that if Songfield Publishing is unable to place your song with a recording artist after a designated length of
time, ownership of the song would revert back to the songwriter.
